Guardian Homes

This is Sophie one of our Guardian Dogs. She lives with her forever family. They are WONDERFUL. They give her all sorts of attention and love.

Sophie had her first litter of puppies June 2018! They were absolutely beautiful.

What is a Guardian Home?

A Guardian Home is a great opportunity for a person or family to enjoy a "pick of the litter" puppy/dog that is being considered for breeding by O'Shea Springers. These dogs are the best of the best as we always choose the best from our litters in order to better our breed. A great dog, at a great price, FREE. There is a deposit to ensure commitment by the Guardian Home is followed through and is then reimbursed over the time of the breeding career. The puppy/dog remains the property of O'Shea Springers until the end of the breeding career and then become the Guardian Home's dog forever after. Typically at the age of 4 years, the dog then becomes part of the forever home.

There is a commitment and willingness to be flexible for the needs of O'Shea Springers, but we believe it is well worth it to receive what is typically a "cream of the crop" puppy or dog. The value of the pup/dog is often $1,000-3,000 so a contract is necessary and for obvious reasons there is a need for us to find the perfect home.

Requirements for Guardian Homes:

  • Own their own home
  • A fenced yard
  • You must have a schedule that will allow for your dog to not be left alone for extended periods of time
  • Willing to take obedience classes
  • Live a reasonable distance from our location of Kerwood, Ontario
  • Flexibility when we need access to the dog for breeding purposes
  • Provide the same food that we are feeding our dogs so that when visiting our home, the transition is easier
  • All dogs and pups placed in guardian families must be indoor dogs
  • Must have reliable transportation, and a willingness to bring the guardian dog/puppy to us when needed throughout the year (We will reimburse you for your expenses).
  • You must not have any un-neutered dogs in the home living with the Guardian Family
  • Guardian homes are responsible for everything else: yearly vaccinations (we require proof of this), vet bills that are not related to the breeding of the dog, monthly flea and deworming treatment, grooming, obedience classes, city license.
